Is Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Flammable?

Like all Liquid Petroleum Gases (LPG), it is flammable when handled incorrectly. Have you ever given a thought about the 9 kilogram LPG cylinder that you use for cooking at home in the kitchen? No, because we assume that it is safe to use with all the safeguards provided with the LPG cylinders.

Similarly, you do not have to worry about the flammability issue with regards to hydrocarbon refrigerant because you can be rest assured that Nat Energy Resources has put in more than enough safeguards in its Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Technology to ensure the safety of all our users.

Nat Energy Resources assures all customers that safety is our main concern and we would rather not apply our Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Technology on your air-conditioning units even if there is an inkling of doubt that the application may be a potential fire hazard.

How Do We Know Its Safe?

Nat Energy Resources hydrocarbon refrigerant will only auto-ignite when it reaches a temperature of 598°Centigrade

Nat Energy Resources hydrocarbon refrigerant will ignite when its concentration is within the flammability window of 1.9% to 8.5% and in the presence of a mixture composition of oxygen, fuel (hydrocarbon gas) and ignition source (open flame).

Therefore to prevent combustion it is imperative to maintain the level of hydrocarbon refrigerant concentration in the air mixture at less than 1.9%.

To ascertain the maximum concentration of HC refrigerant in an enclosed space is below the limit of 1.9%, Nat Energy Resources has in place our very own Safety Protection System which will activate in the event that the concentration of hydrocarbon refrigerant in the air mixture falls within the flammability window.

What happens when it falls within the Flammability Window?

Nat Energy Resources will work with the country’s authorities to ensure that all the legal safety guidelines and requirements are adhered to.

Nat Energy Resources has its Safety Protection System whereby hydrocarbon refrigerant leak detectors are installed and the enclosed space is properly ventilated.

Nat Energy Resources WILL NOT apply its Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Technology in any enclosed space when, in its professional opinion, is convinced that - even with safeguards in place and legal requirements met - it is still not safe.

Nat Energy Resources will never compromise on safety in the application of its hydrocarbon refrigerant technology. That's our promise.
